Were any of the schools listed above reflective of any African American Schools or teachers for Richland Parish. I am aware of a couple of elementary schools: R. Rosenwald and Hollywood. Also Eula B. Britton High School in Rayville but I am not sure what years they were started. Please advise if the above list is only for the year 1925 and only reflective of schools listed in article. Is there any way to find out names of teachers and schools for the African American communities? Thank You
The list I submitted here is a transcription on an article in the newspaper. This list is only a snapshot of what the newspaper reported for this particular year in 1925. I too share your interest in when the African American schools began and where they were located. Have done some preliminary research but no luck so far. I will keep searching. Thanks for your note.
I’ve added a few more African American schools and additional info I’ve come across. You can find it here. https://richlandroots.com/category/general-topics/african-american/
