How Richland Parish’s WARDEN Got It’s Name

Warden (Richland) – Warden was previously known as Richland. Its name was changed because its mail was being sent to other places in Louisiana named Richland. The name was changed to Warden, after a Mr. Warden who lived there. The name changed from Richland to Warden in August 1933, while Mary Southall (who was appointed in January 1929) was postmaster. She was succeeded by William A. Southall Jr. in July 1961.
