Richland Parish Mardi Gras Revelers!

March 23, 1889 Richland Beacon News Clip

Thought this was an especially great old clip from the Richland Beacon way back in 1889. Looks like even back in those days, good Northeast LA folks were able to occasionally take the train or the steamboat down to the “Big Easy” for a little Mardi Gras revelry.
I bet they had plenty to whisper about when they got home.

The article reads:

Saturday, March 23, 1889

Mardi Gras folks not all at home yet.  Miss Emma Dollerhide returned sooner than was anticipated.  We suppose she saw more than any one else, as she returned with sore eyes.”
